5 S and visual management

5S activities in the Toyota Production Systems are the first important steps for workplace organization and are to be implemented improving every work process finally in order to measure and reduce walking, waiting and searching.
Specifically 5S means:

Seiri Sorting out not needed objects and parts

Seiton Tidying up not needed objects and parts

Seiso Cleaning the workplace

Seiketsu Keeping the ordered, clean condition

Shitsuke Keeping of discipline

The simultaneous reorganization of the work environment leads to improved quality increased productivity and safety as well as higher motivation of employees.
