Quality Function Deployment (QFD) was developed in Japan to quantify and convert customer requirements and expectations into technical descriptions. The objective is to make the voice of the customer heard in all phases of the product development process from the general concept to the production line and to marketing so that the end product finally complies with customer expectations. In this way quality means customer satisfaction.
The basic instrument for the implementation is the matrix called the “House of Quality“.
